Statement of Intent

First and foremost, the most important qualification a member of any governing body should have is the ability to listen to the governing body and respond accordingly. I don't promise anything, as lying is the one thing I'll endeavor NEVER to do, and nothing is ever concrete in life, but what I can promise is that I will listen to YOU, and try my best to ensure that I fulfill YOUR needs. I promise that when the students need me, I will be there front and center. I am running, not for power or authority, but because I have grown to adore this place and want to make it the best it can be and believe I am the person who can usher it onto that path. I was deputy head of my previous school, and helped to change and revamp many things, including spearheading a project to launch a camera to 90,000ft (about 27.43 km)! I also have plenty of experience, as I have held numerous roles in the local community, participating in charities, and have given talks where needed. All of this gives me the right qualifications to help change LUSOM and our community for the better. I don't want to suggest many ideas, as I believe my job is not take charge, but rather to shepherd YOUR ideas into fruition, but from what I have heard, here are some things that I believe can be reasonably implemented: Better Newman LUSOM communication – I think there is a lapse in communication between the two for shared lessons, with lates and absences not being adequately communicated, Student led activities – I think current extracurriculars distinctively lack a student element to it while communities from stocks to history exist within college there is a distinct lack of these passions in extracurriculars, and External programs – many programs run that we aren't able to participate in, like the Cambridge Bio challenge that is ongoing and Hack Club Blueprint that gives you £400 to design and build a project, all of which should be a part of our extracurricular lineup. These are a drop in the water compared to the ideas that so many people have and that is our greatest strength, that we have incredibly bright students, all of which have something to contribute, which is why my first task should I be elected would be to run a student wide survey to assess what YOU would like to see. I will not promise vending machines or huge trips, because from my experiences committing to something like that requires a lot of planning, budgeting and time, something that while possible cannot be promised in a manifesto like this. This is why I am the right person for this – because I have the right combination of experience and passion to ensure we can excel and promote this college to be even better.
